M/S Cachalote

Set sail aboard our First Class schooner rigged motor sailor M/S Cachalote I. Feel free to relax and enjoy any of her three wooden decks; maybe soaking up some equatorial sun, or perhaps reading with the wind in your hair and salt in the air.

This is a beautifully decorated motor/sailer recently built in 2002 to meet all security standards according to international marine safety regulations. Cachalote I accommodates 16 passengers in her 8 cabins: upper/lower berths and one matrimonial cabin all with private baths with hot/cold   water showers, fully air conditioned with independent air conditioning units in each cabin. There is plenty of deck space on 3 different wooden decks with seats and cushions to relax in the shade or sunbathe during the cruise, but don’t forget that sunscreen!

Enjoy beautiful cruising through the islands...spot dolphins and whales...snorkel with the sea lions...see birds with blue feet, red feet or big red 'balloons' on their necks...enjoy the scenery and volcanoes...and marvel at the colourful beaches. Come, relax and have fun on our new vessel.

The M/S Cachalote holds the "SmartVoyager Certificate" for sound conservation and socially responsible business practices.

Reviews for the M/S Cachalote

"Having now been back from Galapagos for over a week I thought I would just put a post up about Cachalote and my experience. Wonderful pretty much sums it up. I spent hours agonising about what boat to choose and can happily say that Cachalote was a brilliant experience... The crew were great, very helpful and attentive, the food was great (3 courses a day), lots of fresh fish and great vegetarian options. Our guide Tanya was excellent, her interest and passion for the islands became infectious. I think guides are rated 1, 2 and 3 star. She was 3 star and I would say that is worth investigating before booking as you do really want someone who is going to be good as you spend a lot of time with them. Our boat was full with 16 passengers and it was a great diverse group, which made it all the better as having fun interesting fellow companions really was a plus."

"I've just returned from the Galapagos and spent 7 days on the Cachalote. Had a fabulous time, and couldn't fault the boat. As you'd expect for a boat of that size the cabins are small but perfectly adequate (you're only in them to sleep or shower anyway). The crew looked after us really well - nothing was too much trouble - and in particular the chef produced fab meals from a tiny galley. Our guide Santiago was really good (although I think he also works on other boats too). If I'm ever lucky enough to go back to Galapagos I'd happily book on the Cachalote again. "

"Once aboard Cachalote, the experience (seasickness and the need to develop "sea legs" notwithstanding) was marvelous.  The boat and crew were grand.  The food was superb, not fancy - but healthy, tasty and quite varied from day to day.  The pace of the travel was just right - not too demanding, yet appropriately challenging to me (I'm not atheletic nor an outdoorsman, but I love wildlife).  Our guide (Juan Tabia) was extraordinary, a 20 year veteran of the guide service.  He knew just how to balance our pace so that everyone could get questions answered and pictures taken (plus he could sing and play guitar, as well as teach salsa dance after dinner!)"
